Scope of Work <br />Page 3 <br />The holes being drilled from the west end of the pad <br />will have the soldier beams placed in them and <br />cemented as the holes are completed. <br />The holes will be drilled a minimum of 10 feet into <br />competent bedrock. The holes will be as plumb as <br />possible with the drill rig to be used. The holes <br />will be placed 8 feet center to center. The number of <br />holes will be 14 to 15 depending on space limitations. <br />3.3.1 Beams - 8" x 8" x 35$ wide flange beams will be <br />used for the soldier piles. <br />3.3.2 Beam Pceparation - The beams will be prepared by <br />scaling rust, removal of oil, etc. Beams will then be <br />coated with coal tar paint. Upon completion of <br />welding, cutting, etc. or damage to~coating while <br />handling, beams will be touched up with coal tar <br />coating. <br />Soldier beams will be provided in 30 foot lengths and <br />will have to be cut to length or have additional <br />length added by welding due to variations in the <br />depths of the holes. <br /> <br />
