The remaining road segments are classified as permanent and temporary light-use roads,
respectively, for post-reclatation access. There was a limited amount of light-use road, associated
with the powder magazine site, reclaimed in 1999. See the attached 1999 Reclamation Map for
general location.
5.0 TOPSOILING AND REVEGETATION
Topsoiling and seeding was conducted in two small areas within the mine area and included the
azea of debris disposal and the powder magazine and adjacent topsoil stockpile. The topsoiling
and seeding was conducted on approximately 6.5 acres. See the attached 1999 Reclamation Map
for approximate locations.
6.0 NOXIUOS WEED CONTROL
Selective spraying was conducted to control and eliminate minor infestations of thistle. All musk
thistles encountered were hand dug and destroyed. The sprayed areas will be inspected next spring
to evaluate weed control success and re-sprayed as necessary. See the attached 1999 Reclamation
Map for general location of the areas where spraying or other control was conducted.
7.0 DRAINAGE AND SEDIMENT CONTROL
Three areas of minor disturbance associated with erosion control maintenance were remediated
and reseeded in 1999. Two areas of rill and gullying in the pre-1986 reclamation area were
remediated, topsoiled and reseeded. Contour furrows were installed in Pit 1 in an effort to
maintain erosion control along the southaestem portion of the slope. See attached 1999
Reclamation Map for general locations.
Routine inspection and maintenance was performed on the rernairtder of the ponds, ditches and
other drainage and control structures.
8.0 TOPSOIL STOCKPILES
The topsoil stockpile originally located adjacent to Pond B was removed and redistributed on
reclaimed areas at the mine area and used to complete final reclamation at the Loadout. Following
removal of this excess topsoil, the area was seeded with the approved permanent seed mix This
reduced the area of remaining topsoil stockpiles at the mine area by approximately 2.5 acres.
9.0 SURFACE FACILITIES
As shown on the 1999 Reclamation Map, the remaining permanent facilities (roads, buildings and
ponds) at the mine area contain approximttely 35 acres.
10.0 LOADOUT AREA
Final reclamation activities were completed at the Loadout area (approximately 5 acres) during
1999. The remaining debris from dismantling the tipple was hauled to the mine and buried along
