Area B - During the last year a small amount of sand
was removed from this area and therefore its configuration
remains as it was last year.
Area C - This area was opened a few years ago and
remains as a closed pit. The area was not worked during
this last year. In time, this area will merge with Area B
as it expands southward.
Area D - Area D, like Area C, was opened a few years
ago. It was opened in order to search for a coarser grade
of sand. No work was done in this area during the last
year. Like Area C, it will eventually be engulfed by Area B
as it expands.
Area E - This was the original location of operations
on this side of the highway. Much of the sand has already
been removed. Some additional work is needed on the south
end and west side, but most of the north end is completed
and awaiting a decision on final actions regarding a
possible land trade on the extreme north end of the
operation on this side of Academy Boulevard. If the land
trade occurs then this area will be mined in the future
after another relocation of the Fountain Mutual Ditch.
RULE 2.41(2): LOCATIONS AND NUMBER OF ACRES RECLAIMED FOR
THAT YEAR.
No land was placed in reclamation during the last year.
Land under the various stages of reclamation remain as they
were last year.
RULE 2.41(3): THE LOCATION AND NUMBER OF ACRES IN THE
VARIOUS STAGES OF RECLAMATION (BACKFILLED, GRADED, TOPSOIL
REPLACED, REVEGETATED).
BACKFILLED: The backfilled acreage increased slightly
(about 2 acres) as a result of the completion of the
settling pond. Otherwise, all backfilled land remains as it
was reported in last year's annual report. The total
backfilled acreage is now at about 23 to 25 acres.
GRADED: Graded land would total in the vicinity of 10
acres, depending upon exactly how one defines "graded". In
this report, graded land is considered to be land which has
been removed from mining status and has been backfilled and
at least partially brought to its final topographic
configuration.
TOPSOIL REPLACED: No topsoil has been replaced on any
areas as all areas where soil existed after the time of
permitting are still in a mining status. However, soil like
material has been placed on some graded areas west of
Academy. This is as it was reported last year.
FILE 73-7 ANNUAL REPORT - 1988/1989 PAGE 3 OF 5
