WEST OF ACADEMY BOULEVARD:
Processing - The processing area remained essentially
unchanged from the previous year. Most of the area west of
Academy is used for processing the sand. The land area for
processing includes activities such as washing, stockpiling,
and distribution of the sand products. Settling ponds in
the processing are a mixed use which spans the vague gap
between processing and reclamation.
Dry Settling Ponds - Please refer to last year's
annual report map for the location of these. No changes
occurred.
Settling Pond - The settling pond shown on last year's
map was completed and is being allowed to drain before
covering with overburden materials. The new settling pond
is located immediately east of the pond shown on last year's
map. It's use began just prior to the end of the permit
year, therefore, for most of the year, the pond shown on
last year's map was used as a settling pond.
Mixed Uses - No changes occurred in this category as
compared to last year.
Graded - This area, shown on last year's map, is in a
temporary reclamation status and did not change from last
year in extent or condition. It will enter a permanent
reclamation status when the sand dike is removed and the
entire area graded for the final reclamation configuration.
Mining - The mining areas on this side of Academy
Boulevard are minor in extent. The only area where
appreciable extraction occurred is in the middle of the sand
dike bordering the north edge of the operation and shown on
last year's map. The extent of this excavation expanded
slightly during the last permit year, but the first cut
through the dike is nearly completed and should occur in
1989, even with a slow market demand. No other mining
occurred on the west side of Academy Boulevard.
Reseeded - This small area near the entrance to the
operation and shown on last year's map was reseeded three
years ago. No changes occurred in this area.
EAST OF ACADEMY BOULEVARD Areas refer to last year's
ma
Area A - No notable changes occurred in this area
during the last year and it remains much as it was at the
time of the last annual report.
FILE 73-7 ANNUAL REPORT - 1988/1989 PAGE 2 OF 5
