RECLAMATION FUNCTIONS
(1) Grading is completed by a crawler tractor (Caterpillar D-9) to
return the affected areas to the contours shown on the attached
Post-Mining Topography Map
(2) Scarifying the Graded Surface is completed by a Caterpillar 14G
motor grader with a multishank scarifier ripper. This function
roughens the graded surface to promote root penetration and to
increase moisture infiltration.
(3) Topsoil Replacement is completed by loading and hauling topsoil
from a stockpile to the areas that have been graded. A scraper
(Caterpillar 637D) will be used for this function and subsequent
spreading of topsoil .
(4) Soil Testing involves the sampling and analyses of the soil
material to determine possible nutrient deficiencies so that the
proper fertilizer and adequate application rates can be assessed.
Fertilizing includes the type and rate of application for the
fertilizer selected after reviewing the results of the soil
testing.
(5) Seeding and Mulching includes the cost of seed and mulch. The cost
of actual mulching and broadcast seeding is also included in this
function.
(6) Miscellaneous includes the cost for backfilling and grading of the
existing settling pond to achieve post-mining topography.
