The
cover requirement of 18" of non-toxic noncombustible material
was approved for this pile in TR-16. For covering this
portion of the pile we attempted to place a minimum of 12" of
• subsoil and 6" of topsoil as discussed in the TR. Sources for
material for this subsoil cover was CBA 1, CBA 2 and clean out
material from Pond 6. The "Clean-out" material from Pond 6
was silt that washed into the pond in 1991 during flooding of
Coal Canyon. This material had occupied part of the sediment
capacity of this Pond until it was pushed onto the face of
CRDA 1. Soil sample information for the 4 borrow areas can be
found as follows:
CBA 1 - 5-93-5, Pages XX-24 thru 26, Appendix XX, Vo1.7; 5-
94-2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 on the attached Exhibit A.
CBA 2 - 5-93-1 thru 4, pages xx-24 thru 26, Appendix XX,
Vol. 7.
Pond 6 - 5-94-8 on the attached Exhibit A.
CRDA 1 - Salvage Area 6 - 5-94-9 & 10 on attached Exhibit A.
Exhibit B is a topo map showing current contours of
the areas disturbed or used for operations associated with
this refuse pile cover project. These areas are outlined and
labeled on the map. Soil sample locations referred to in
Exhibit A are also shown.
• The areas covered, the average thickness and the volume of
material used to cover these three benches is given in Table
C-94. Scrapers were used for moving most of this material
