• from the borrow area to the top of the benches. A dozer or
track hoe was used to spread it on the slopes. Materal from
Pond 6 was pushed out of the pond and onto the slope with a
dozer. This material was placed during May and June 1994.
CRDA 2 benches 1 and 2. The cover requirement of 24" of non-
toxic noncombustible material was approved for this pile in
TR-16. For covering this portion of the pile we attempted to
place a minimum of 18" of subsoil and 6" of topsoil as
discussed in the TR. One foot of material was placed on the
road and gravel was applied to the road surface. Sources for
material for this subsoil cover was CBA 1 and CBA 2. Soil
sample information for the 2 borrow areas is the same as those
listed for CRDA 1. The areas covered, the average thickness
and the volume of material used to cover these three benches
is given in Table C-94. Scrapers were used for moving most of
this material from the borrow area to the top of the benches
and onto the face of part of slopes. A dozer or track hoe was
used to spread it on the remaining slopes. This material was
place during June 1994.
CRDA 2 benches 3 and part of 4. Work continued in the late
summer on aditional portions of CRDA 2 that were ready for
cover. Again we attempted to place a minimum of 18" of
subsoil and 6" of topsoil as discussed in the TR. The sources
• of material for subsoil was CBA 1. Soil sample information
for this area is the same as those listed for CRDA 1. The
areas covered, the average thickness and the volume of
material used to cover these benches is given in Table C-94.
Ten wheel dump trucks were used to haul the material to the
top and bottom of the benches. A dozer or track hoe was used
to spread the material on the slope. This material was placed
during August and September 1994.
Table C-94
Location Area Thickness Sub-soil
volume
CRDA 1, Benches 1-3 9.5 acres 1.2' 18,390 CY
CRDA 2, Benches 1&2 4.2 2.0 13,550
CRDA 2, Road 1.0 1.0 1,620
CRDA 2, Benches 3&4 3.0 2.0 9,680
Total 17.7 43,240
(D) Area Topsoiled CRDA 1 benches 1, 2 and 3.
