<br />' Part 2 <br /> PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS <br />' <br /> Location of Pro posed Site and Zoning Regulations. The site is <br /> located ~ 00 eet easterly o~tTe site teas been in u.se for <br /> several years. It consists of a 5.7 acre tract in unsurve~yed <br />' T 41 N, R 7 P~, N.M.P.M., described as follows: <br />' Beginning at a point whence Corner No. 5 of Mineral :survey <br />11596, Ann Harris Placer bears S 64° 42' W, 2,308 feet; <br />thence N 43° 47' W, 300 feet; thence N 52° 18' E, 315 feet; <br />thence N 77° 37' E, 300 feet; thence S 69° 57' E, 515 feet; <br />thence S 70° 03' W, 870.7 feet to the point of beginning. <br />As can be seen on the maps on pages 5, 6, and 7, the landfill site <br />' is approximately oneā¢mile eas f th Silverton Cit limits and <br />llPS iuGt_.?~iHig way 110. Except for the access road, the <br />landfill site is not visible from the highway. The site :is an <br />' abandoned tailings pond located on the Polar Star Mill Site and a <br />portion of the Marge Mill Site. No development has been or is now <br />proposed for the site. Mill sites have been staked over the area <br />' encompassed by the landfill site. These are shown on the land <br />ownership map on page I7, and will not interfere with the present <br />plans for using the site. <br />~ ' San Juan County does not have any zoning regulations in effect at <br />this time. Due to past usage and the suitability of the site, there <br />are no objections to its use as a landfill from the viewpoint of <br />' health and safety regulatory agencies. <br />Land use of adjacent properties near the site are shown on maps on <br />' pages 6, 16 and 17, and consist of the following: <br />1. Hillside Cemetery is located 4,000 feet, more or less <br />~ west of the site. <br />2. Active and inactive tailings ponds are located ].,300 feet <br />west and immediately north and east of the site. <br />' 3. Standard Metals office buildings are located about 800 feet <br />westerly of the site. <br />4. Highway 110 is located about 100 feet south of t:he site. <br />~ 5. Lands immediately adjacent to the site consist of patented <br />' and unpatented mining claims and mill sites. U:ae has been <br />made of the adjacent lands for tailing ponds, access roads <br />and other uses connected with the Standard Meta:Ls milling <br />operation. <br />I 1 <br />-3 <br />I <br />
