<br />' Use of the site was also contingent upon Standard Metals Corporation. <br />At the time of preparation of the Plan, Standard Metals ways also <br />engaged in relocating Highway 110 and beginning construction of a <br />' new tailings pond that would ultimately encompass the landfill. <br />~t this time, the tailings pond is approaching the landfill and <br />he Town and County must relocate the landfill operation t:o another <br />site. Operations of the landfill must cease by August 31, 1982. <br />' The new site is an existing tailings pond located 2,200 fE~et <br />easterly of the existing site and described in detail in t:he <br />following Plan. <br />Purpose. This Plan has been prepared to provide necessary data to <br />San Juan County and the Town of Silverton in order to successfully <br />construct and operate a sanitary landfill on the Standard Metals <br />' tailings pond number 3. <br />Scope. The information necessary to properly evaluate than proposed <br />' site for development and operation of sanitary landfill includes: <br />1. A description of the physical characteristics of the <br />proposed site. <br />2. A description of the development plan. <br />' 3.
