It is estimated that 1,687 acre/feet of water was turned
into the Vulcan Ditch in 1985 ever a period of 189 days.
A record of historic flows in the Vulcan Ditch is present-
ed in Attachment E.
3.2 Agricultuual Uses
A total of 257 acres of irrigated land are serviced by the
Vulcan Ditch. Of that, 149 acres (115 acres near the mine
surface facility and 34 acres in Section 35 East of River-
bend) are within the permit boundary. After the 3.©69
acre/feet used in the mire construction are removed from
the total amount of water diverted into the Vulcan Ditch,
1683.931 acre/feet or 6.6 of/acre were potentially avail-
able for irrigation in 1985. If a calculated efficiency
of 66b for the six mile long ditch were applied, approx-
imately 4.32 of/acre of water ~°as applied to agricultural
land in 1985. Based on the six year average volume of
water diverted into the Vulcan Ditch given in Attachment
E, an average applicaticn rate of 3.79 of/acre has been
used historically.
3.3 Mine Uses
[later used for the mine project amounted to approximately
one million gallons or 3.1© acre-feet. A total of 2.99
acre-feet oras used to suppress dust and to help compact
fill material used in road and facilities pad construc-
tion. Volume estimates are based on water truck load
counts. Another 0.11 acre-feet of water has been used in
drilling the rock tunnels. This estimate is based on flow
rate and hours of pumping into a holding tank. A summary
of crater volumes used in construction is presented in
Attachment E.
