RULE 2.41 2 LOCATIONS AND NUMBER OF ACRES RECLAIMED FOR THAT YEAR.
No land was placed into a reclamation status this year. This is
because the operation is in an expansion mode and little land will be
available for reclamation for some time.
In an indirect sense, however, visual reclamation is occurring as a
result of the reduction of the west wall area. Reduction of this wall
eliminates the visual effects of the highwall and reveals the natural
cliffs and wooded hills to the west and northwest of the quarry and on
the west side of Williams Canyon. The production of this visual effect
began to become apparent at the end of the permit year.
RULE 2.41 3 THE LOCATION AND NUMBER OF ACRES IN THE VARIOUS STAGES OF
RECLAMATION (BACRFILLED, GRADED, TOPSOIL REPLACED, REVEGETATED).
Three acres of the visual berm area is under revegetation and is
the only area in the permit where reclamation has been fully instituted.
Indirectly, approximately one acre on the west wall has been placed in
reclamation because that is the vertical view area of the portion of the
west wall which has been removed and replaced by a view of the natural
hillsides behind the quarry.
RULE 2.41 4 THE SPECIES OF VEGETATION PLANTED, THE LOCATIONS AND
APPROXIMATE DATES OF PLANTING.
No vegetation was planted this year. No land was ready to receive
any vegetation.
RULE 2.41 5 THE TYPE AND APPROXIMATE QUANTITY OF FERTILIZERS, ORGANIC
MATERIAL, OR SOIL CONDITIONERS USED AND LOCATION OF USE.
No fertilizers or soil amendments were placed on the revegetation
which has been instituted.
RULE 2.41 6 AN APPRAISAL OF THE SUCCESS OF RECLAMATION EFFORTS, AND
IN THE EVENT OF FAILURE OF ANY EFFORTS, A SHORT NARRATIVE ON THE
SUSPECTED OR DETERMINED CAUSE OF SUCH FAILURE.
The visual berm is producing strong growths of grasses and forbs.
Many of the trees are also producing well and some are reaching quite
noticeable heights of 5 to 6 feet.
The past erosion damages on the berm have all been repaired and are
doing an excellent job of channeling the run-off such that no further
erosion damage is occurring.
Page 2 of 3 Permit 77-210 Snyder Quarry 1987 Annual Report
