• Four sprirx3s in the Stevens (~Acdt drainage, Spring & Pond 24, Spring & Ford 13-5,
Spring & Pond 13-6, and Spring 24-1, were monitored monthly ~Ji,ynim ~ ~Y
1993. Spring & Porcl 24 e~dri.bited flows and field parame ters wnsistent with
previously established ranges. SP-24 lies below an ar ea of the Fast mine
developed in 1981. Sufficient water quality data had been collected since the
Fast mine was idled in this vicinity and therefore additional water quality
information was not collected. Spring & Porr3 13-5 was undermined during the last
half of 1991. The spring at this location exhibited consistent flows ttrrax~out
1993 and the water quality analyses collected showed parameters generally
consistent with previously established values. Bicarbonate wncentrations at
this site were slightly lacer than usual, chloride concentrations were higher.
Water quality at this location remains good and essentially unaffected by minix~.
Spring and Pond 13-6 was undermined during the esd of 1992. The spring at this
• location also exhibited wnsistent flows throuc~out 1993 and the water quality
aralyses collected sha.~ed parameters generally wnsistent with previously
established values. Bicarbonate wncentrations at this site were also slightly
lower than usual, suspended solids concentrations were higher. Water quality at
this location remains good and essentially unaffected by mining. Spring 24-1
continued to exhibit extremely minor flows during 1993. 'This site overlies an
area of the Fast mine inactive since 1983. No evidence of subsidence was
apparent at this location.
Terror GYeek
Sixteen monitored springs are located within the Terror Creek drainage (refer to
Table 5 and Map No. 4-1). Eight of these sixteen sites were parmarwntly dropped
from the monitoring network via TR-24 as they were located outside the area of
. potential mining impacts given the currently approved mine plan. As a
consequence of their locations, Spring & Pond 16, Spring & Pbrd 18, Spring & Ford
14
