Spring 10-13 watershed.
•
Stevens (~tlch
Eleven monitored springs are located within the Stevens Gulch drainage (refer to
Table 5 arri Map No. 4-1) . Spring & Pond 28 aryl 12-4 were not actively monitored
during 1993 as they were known to lie clearly beyorrl the area of potential mine
impacts. Sufficient data had been collected fro[n each of these sites to
adequately duracterize the pre-mining hydrology. Spring & Porn 7-4 was
inadvertently not monitored either as the wrong field location was being checked
for this site. Spring & Pond 7-4 overlies an area of the East mine inactive
since 1983. Spring & Pond 19 lies outside the area of potential mine ing~acts
given minirrct development to date. No measurable flows were observed from SP-19
during 1993 although the pond was observed to contain water. Spring & Porn 23
• overlies an are of the East mine inactive since 1984. No retreat mining has
occurred in the vicinity of SP-23. `This site was visited three times during 1993
with flows observed and field parameters collected consistent with prior
measurements. No water quality samples were collected as a sufficient database
already exists to characterize water quality at this site. Spring & Pond 7-5
overlies an are of the East mine inactive since 1983. This site was visited
three times during 1993 with fleas observed arcl field parameters collected
consistent with prior measurements. No water quality samples were collected as
a sufficient database already exists to characterize water quality at this site.
Spring 25 lies below an area of the East mine inactive since 1982. This site was
observed flowing in June 1993 with field parameters collected consistent with
prior measuren~nts. A water quality sample was not wllected as a sufficient
database exists for this location and no further mining had oaur-red in the
vicinity of this site. Spring 25 has been identified as an adjudicated water
riot within the permit area which will be monitored further during 1994.
13
