• ponds aryl the results were wnsistent with baseline information oollectsd in the
past. No evidence of mine impacts was noted. The West Roatcap Creek ponds were
physically intact throuc~out 1993 and showed no subsidence effects. No retreat
mining was conducted in the vicinity of arty ponds during 1993 in the West Roatcap
Meek drainage.
Stevens Gulch
Sixteen monitored ponds are located within the Stevens Gulch drainage (refer to
Table 5 aryl Map No. 4-1). Ponds 12-1, 12-9, and 12-10 were not actively
monitored during 1993 as they were known to lie clearly beyorcl the area of
potential mine impacts. Stifficient data had been collected from each of these
porrls prior to 1993 to characterize the pre-minuxf hydrology.
. Ponds 81, 7-2, 7-7, 7-11, 12-2, 18-4 and 19-1 in the Stevens Gulch drainage
overlie areas of the East mine which have been idle since as early as 1983.
These ponds were observed beginning in June 1993 primarily to verify that no
obvious physical impacts had developed at these sites. Water quality san~les
were not obtained from these ponds as a sufficient water quality database had
previously been established for each of these sites. Field parameters were
collected if the ponds were observed discharging or with active inflows. The
field measurements collected were consistent with measurements taken in the past
and not indicative of adverse mine impacts. These ponds appeared to be
physically intact during 1993 and showed no subsidence effects.
Ponds 85, 12-11, 13-2, 13-4, 13-7, and 13-8 were monitored for water levels and
field parameters begitvLizxJ in May, 1993. Water quality samples were obtained in
• October from those ponds actively discharging or exhibiting active inflows. Pond
85 was urriermined by Panel B in 1992. No subsidence impacts were evident at Pond
10
