• located adjacast to areas mined in 1991 and 1992 but showed no apparent impacts
in the field data oollecked during 1993. Aooess to well SM-1 was reestablished
late in 1993 arcl monitoring will continue at his site during 1994. Well 3~f-2 is
located outside the potential subsidence zone. Well SM-9 wastudesmined by Panel
C during 1993. Advance mining occurred in the vicinity of well SM-3 in 1982 and
1983.
Water quality at well SM-3 exhibited a slightly higher than normal sulfate
concentration. No other anomalous water quality observations were apparent
during 1993 at any of the other Stevens Gulch shallow groundwater monitoring
wells.
• Shallow groundwater monitoring well SM-4 (see Map No. 4-1) is located in the
Terror Creek drainage. 'This well was monitored briefly during 1993 for water
levels and field parameters. Well SM-4 is located outside the zone of any
potential mine impacts given mining to date. No water quality sanq~le was
obtained frwn well SM-4 as an extensive water quality database exists for this
site and no mining has occurred in the vicinity. Field data collected from well
3~i-4 during 1993 was insistent with data previously collected and not indicative
of any adverse or irregular impacts.
MESAVFRDE EC3Hr4~TICN - HELOW D SEAM GROiQIDf~IIs.TER MGNI'iCItII~
Well DH-70 is located in the Coal Gulch (see Map No. 4-1) drainage and overlies
an area of the Feast mine developed in 1984. This location was measured twice for
water levels during 1993 and found to exhibit water levels within the normal
• range previously established for this site and slic~tly elevated as oac~ared to
1992. No water quality samples were obtainable fr®n this well.
8
