Uaaer Sedimentation Pond No.2
1. Structural Weakness - None
2. Erosion and Vegetation - Same observation as Lower Pond.
3. Hazardous or Potentially Hazardous Conditions - None
4. Sediment Level - 3.4 feet below the riser base. Water
level in the pond is at the riser base, and although
there is water in the riser base, the is no flowage
through the pipe.
5. Required Maintenance - None
6. Discharge Structures
The primary dewatering device, pipe and riser, are free
and clear of debris.
Riprap in the emergency spillway and outflow is in
acceptable condition, and the scattered vegetation in
these two structures poses no problem to water Plow.
There is no evidence of recent water flow through these
two structures.
7. Input Structures - Same observation as lower pond.
8. Miscellaneous - Embankment measurements confirm that the
structure conforms to Section 4.05.6(11)(f) and Section
4.05.6(11)(h) of the Regulations of the Colorado Mined
Land Reclamation Board Por Coal Mining.
The riser and a few feet of the upstream end of the
primary dewatering device have been tilted up, probably
do to the freezing and thawing of water and water
saturated soil beneath the pipe. This should not effect
functioning oY the pipe and riser, and therefore does
not constitute a hazard to operation of the sedimenta-
tion pond.
The measuring board is down.
Exalosive Storaee Area Sedimentation Pond
1. Structural Weakness - None
2. Erosion and Vegetation - Same as the Lower and Upper
Ponds with increased vegetation density on the embankment
tops.
3. Hazardous or Potentially Hazardous Conditions - None
4. Sediment Level - 2.8 feet below the riser base. The pond
is dry.
5. Required Maintenance - None
6. Discharge Structures
The riser and pipe, primary dewatering device, are
clear of debris, and the outflow riprap is in
acceptable condition.
Riprap in the emergency spillway is in acceptable
condition, and the weedy vegetation in the spillway
should not impede the flow of water. There is no
evidence of recent water flow through the spillway.
7. Input Structure - The ditch from the Northwest Sediment
Trap outflow to this pond is in acceptable condition.
There is a negligible buildup of sediment at the terminus
of the ditch.
