8. Miscellaneous - Embankment measurements confirm that the
structure conforms to Section 4.05.6(11)(£) and Section
4.05.6(11)(h) of the Regulations of the Colorado Mined
Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining.
The riser and upstream end of the dewatering pipe have
been elevated 0.7 feet, and although this circumstance
does not create a hazard to the operation of the riser
and pipe, the unit should be lowered to it's proper
position.
The measuring board is down.
Yampa River Sedimentation Pond
1. Structural Weakness - None.
2. Erosion and Vegetation - There are no erosion problems
at this pond, however the vegetation is attenuated due to
Livestock activity in the pond area.
3. Hazardous or Potentially Hazardous Conditions - None.
4. Sediment Level - 3.0 feet below the input base of the
dewatering pipe. This vertical measurement includes 2.0
feet from the pipe to retained water level plus an
estimated 1.0 foot oP water depth.
5. Required Maintenance - None.
6. Discharge Structures
The primary dewatering device is clear oP all debris
and outflow riprap is in acceptable condition.
The emergency spillway riprap and outflow, cemented
riprap are in good condition, and minor vegetation in
the spillway poses no problem to water flow.
7. Input Structures
The western culvert under the roadway is partially
blocked at the input by some gravel deposits. Although
this deposit constitutes no hazard to the function of
the sedimentation pond, removal of the debris should
improve culvert function to 100 percent.
A slight trickle of water, that originates at a spring
south of the pond, flows through the eastern culvert
under the road. The culvert is clear oY debris.
8. Miscellaneous - Seven, pond-side, embankment slope
measurements established horizontal distances that are
more than twice the vertical component. Inasmuch as the
Yampa River Sedimentation Pond is, for the most part,
a depression in the alluvial valley floor, regulations
4.05.6(11)(f) and 4.05.6(11)(h) do not apply to this
structure.
The measure board is down.
Respectfully submitted,
~~~
Eug a M. Shearer,P.E.
FEG
~7,~ ,l
n
s `" ~--
~ IF ~~ :, ~~ .. ,
