• i. A rental boiler was installed to increase the temperature of the injection liquor.
Increased temperature improves the concentration of product in the liquor. This increases
the production rate and the quality of the final product.
j. A revision of the Mine Plan was submitted that would increase the allowable tons
to be produced from each of the cavities. Rather than looking at each of the cavities, the
revision focuses on a panel made up of several cavities. Using submersible pumps, the
panel can be mined more efficiently without the inherent impacts of forced circulation.
k. The spray system located at the waste pond was put into operation using water
circulated through a heat exchanger at the plant. The increased temperature of the
water will increase evaporation and maintain the spray system through the winter.
I. During 1995 46,227 tons of sodium bicarbonate were produced by WRN'S
•
facility in the Piceance Basin.
3.2.3 Proaosed 1996 Activities and Schedule
r ~
LJ
WRN anticipates production of 70,000 tons in 1996. Mining of cavity #2 is planned
following completion of a second vertical well. Mining three cavities in parallel is planned
for the first time in the history of the project. Mining from cavities #1, #2, and #4 is
anticipated to meet 1996 production demands.
4.0 1995 PROJECT ACTIVITIES
4.1 On-Site Facilities and Process Description
9
