4.3.4 Geotechnlcal Program
• No sonar surveys were taken on the vertical sonar access well for caviy #3 or the two
vertical recovery wells for cavities #3 and 4. Both wells for cavity #3 had significant
debris buildup which would not allow the sonar tools to pass and cavity #4 had a
submersible pump installed in the well.
WRN plans to sonar survey both cavity #1 and 4 during 1996. WRN will preform a sonar
survey of cavity #1 following mining of additional 6000 tons or a total of 48,000 tons. The
sonar survey of cavity #4 will be more difficult, but should take place around a pump
failure or some other reason which requires the pulling of the pump.
Gamma ray logs and temperature logs were taken on cavity #4 following initial
• completion. Several weeks after sustaining production to the plant, the mining was
stopped and temperature logs (three per production wells) were obtained during cool
down.
4.3.5 Lease or Mine Plan Modification
In 1993, a request was submitted to the BLM for a lease modification. If approved, a
520 acre window would be added to a contiguous lease and an equal (approximately)
amount of acreage would be relinquished. An economic evaluation of this lease
modification was in process throughout 1995, regarding cost for lease modification.
• 23
