During December, cavity #1 was reactivated with prior approval of the BLM. !n December
• 1,942 tons was produced bringing the total production for this cavity to 43,740 tons.
Approximately 4,260 tons of approved production remain for 1996. HistoricaAy, a total
of approximately 151,913 tons of sodium bicarbonate have been produced from the four
existing cavities.
A record of mud utilized, per BLM and EPA permit requirements, to maintain a mud pack
in the annulus of the production wells, is shown on Table 4-2. Existing wells for cavities
#1, 2, and 3 required minimal quantities to maintain mud to surface. New wells for cavity
#4 (4-3H, 4A-4V, and 4B-2V) required moderate quantities (less than previous wells} of
mud to bring to surtace, probably a result of more cement in the annulus. Also, required
maintenance of mud pack was minimal through 1995.

4.3.3 Monitoring Wells
No new monitoring wells were completed in 1995.
