• Wells BOl through B06 and Well BOS are monitored semiannually for water levels
to assess slope stability in and around the East Mine facilities.
Patterns typically associated with these wells in the past were again evident
during the 1995 monitoring. Wells BO1, B03, BOS, B06, and B08 rQnw;ncrt dry
throughout the year. Wells B02 and B04 shaved imderate water level fluctuations
within the established normal ranges previously documented. Conductivity values
at BOT L'P,IilainPri within the range of values previously established. Other
monitored parameters fluctuated slightly within established ranges. The 1993
report indicated that sulfate and total dissolved solids appeared to be slightly
elevated at B07. In 1995 sulfate was 344 mq/1 oonq~ared to the 1993 average of
380 mg/1. The 1995 TDS value was 1050 mg/1 cot~ared to the 1993 average of
1,188 mg/1. The 1992 AHR presented min;anvn and maxinnim Values for the period
of record from 4/83 to 10/92. The range for sulfate was 64 to 731. The range
for TDS was 244 to 1900. The 1993 and 1995 values for sulfate and TDS fall
within the minim,m and maxim,m Values documented in the 1992 AHI2.
• OVW~t G7i0[R~IDF+B-~2 MCNlTaRiNG WELLS
Well (7VFEa (see Map No. 4-1) was monitored monthly for water level only to assess
stability of the West Mine fill cronstructed over East Roatcap Creek. Well OVWM
showed typical water level fluctuations during 1995 within the normal range
established for this site (see Tab 5 Figure 5).
D1Q3i14i FaRK W,IZ]VILM GRgIIIid4~TIIt MCSIITORING WELLS
Three wells, I~E4-1, 1~E4-2, and I~E~T-3 (see Map No. 8-3) are oa~~leted in the North
Fork (~uuLison alluvium. During 1995 the wells were monitored nunthly for water
levels and shaved typical seasonal fluctuations within previously established
ranges (see Tab 5 Figures 6, 7 S 8). MW-1 and MW-3 were monitored quarterly for
quality during 1995 to monitor potential groundwater effects stemming fran the
coal stockpile and loadout facilities located in the North Fork Valley. Well
MW-1 is east of the loadout in an area that should be outside or above the area
of influence of the coal stockpile and loadout facilities. Well MW-3 i.s
southwest of the coal stockpile azea in a location that should see the full
impact of any potential groundwater degradation. The TDS level in the wells
gives a good indication whether the ground water in the area has been degraded.
• Zn 1993 the TDS in wells MW-1 and M~v-3 was 388 and 380 mg/1 respectively. These
values are considered baseline values. Well AiS+1-1 had a TDS level of 650 and 760
3
