The rem~i~i~g road segments are classified as permanent and tetporary light-
use roads, respectively, for post-reclamation access. No construction or further reclamation work
was conducted on permanent or temporary roads during 2000. Ongoing road maintenance
activities conducted doting 2000 included grading of the road surfaces and inspection and clean-
out of road ditches and culverts, as needed.
5.0 TOPSOILING AND REVEGETATION
Topsoiling and mulch seeding was conducted in 1999 on approatimately 6.5 acres within the Mine
area including the designated disposal area on the southeast edge of the shop/warehouse facilities
pad and the former powder magazine area, soil stockpile area, and associated road. These areas
were seeded in 2000 byinter-seeded the permanent seed mix (Table 67A) into the standing mulch.
The application rate was at the prescribed rate for both grasses (11.5 pounds per acre) and shrubs
and forbs (5.75 pounds per acres). See the attached 2000 Reclamation Map for approximate 2000
seeding locations. Limited areas where rilk and gullies were repaired and rock check dams
installed were reseeded with the permanent revegetation seed mix These areas are identified and
described in Section 7.0.
6.0 NOXIOUS WEED CONTROL
Selective spraying was conducted to control and eliminate minor localized infestations of thistle.
All musk thistles encountered were hand dug and destroyEd. Areas sprayed in 1999 were inspected
during spring 2000. Several areas showed persisten[ need growth and required re-application of
herbicides. The same mixture of Piclotam (Tordon) and 2,4-D was used as in past applications for
weed control. Additional azeas were identified during the spring 2000 inspection as requiring weed
control. All areas sprayed in 2000 aze listed below and shown on the 2000 Reclamation Map.
• Ponds A, D, and E drainages
• Pic 1 (side-slope areas)
• 720 Pit (west sideslope area)
• Tipple area
• Mine area roads and facilities areas
• Shop area and west of shop
7.0 DRAINAGE AND SEDIMENT CONTROL
Kerr conducted regulaz routine inspection and maintenance for all ponds, ditches and other
drainage and control structures. The minor disturbance associated with routine maintenance and
repair of drainages and terraces in 1999 as well as the two areas of tilling and gullying in the pre-
1986 reclamation area that were repaired and reseeded were in found to have stabilized and were in
good condition. No follow-up maintenance or repairs were necessary in 2000 for these areas.
Some repair of minor tills, gullies, and contour furrows was required in the following areas, as
shown on the 2000 Reclamation Map:
East and west of the Marr pit entrance road in the drainage northwest of Pond E
South end of Pit 1
