As you aze aware, active mining and related
activity was suspended and final reclamation activities were initiated in early 1993. At the end of
1999, approximately 357 acres had been reclaimed in the Marr Mine and Loadout areas, with
approximately 44 acres of roads, facilities, sediment control stmcttues, and soil stockpiles
remaining. A portion of the remaining total acreage is associated with long-term facilities that have
been approved for pemaanent retention in conjunction with the postnunutg land use. Disturbance
azeas reclaimed in 1999 included the Loadout area; a portion of the shop/warehouse facilities pad;
and the former powder magazine area, soil stockpile azea, and associated road.
Except for the Loadout area, which was seeded to the permanent revegetation seed mixture, areas
reclaimed in 1999 were initially seeded to the annual ryE mulch crop, followed by the permanent
revegetation seeding in 2000. As part of Kem's regular site maintenance activities and consistent
with any concerns noted by the DMG in their regular site inspection reports, surface water control
structures were inspected and repaired, as necessary, in several areas. Aggressive noxious weed
control measures were implemented in several azeas to control and elintutate 1«alized weed
infestations. Also grazing activities, consistent with the approved grazing plan, occurred for 2
weeks during the summer within the fenced area. Map 1, 2000 Reclamation Map, outlines the
general l«ation and extent of site maintenance and reclamation activities completed during 2000.
These activities aze described in more detail in the following sections.
1.0 MINING AND TOPSOIL REMOVAL
Active ntuting operations at the Marr Mute ceased in January 1993 and no mining or significant
topsoil removal activities have occurred subsequent to that date.
2.0 BACKFILLING AND REGRADING
No backlilling or re-grading was conducted in new areas at the Marr Mine or Loadout during 2000.
3.0 OVERBURDEN STOCKPILES
The ptunary overburden st«kpile at the Mar Mute was removed and the associated disturbance
area reclaimed in 1993-94 in conjunction with reclamation of the 720 Pit. No overburden
stockpiles remain at the Mam Mme.
P.O.
