13.3.4.2 Freeboard <br />A minimum of six inches freeboard shall be maintained at all <br />times on containment ponds, except for ponds containing treated <br />water. Increased free board shall be maintained as appropriate <br />for impoundments designated to receive emergency discharges. <br />13.3.4.3 Inspections <br />The integrity of the containment systems, and associated <br />structures and plumbing shall be verified at least once per day <br />by documented inspections by trained personnel, in accordance <br />with procedures as in the Procedures Manual, required by <br />LC 11.1.8. <br />13.3.4.4 Maintenance <br />Required maintenance, repair and erosion control shall be as <br />expeditious as possible. <br />13.3.5 GENERAL PROJECT MAINTENANCE <br />All storage, processing, transport, containment, monitoring, and <br />safety systems shall be maintained in good working order and in <br />a manner to preclude or minimize unscheduled releases ~f <br />radioactive or toxic materials. <br />13.3.6 SAFETY, SECURITY, FENCING, POSTING, <br />AREA CONTROL, PROTECTIVE CLOTHING <br />13.3.6.1 Responsibility <br />13.3.6.1.1 The Facilities Manager shall be accountable for safety, <br />security, fencing, posting, and area control. <br />13.3.6.1.2 The RSO or his 3esignated assistant shall have authority to <br />remove employees from a work environment of suspend the <br />operation in a particular processing area if he has determined <br />that a condition exists that would likely result in any <br />individual being exposed to radiation that may present an <br />imminent health hazard. <br />13.3.6.1.3 The Facilities Manager shall act promptly on the recomnendations <br />of the RSO or his designated assistant pertaining to radiation <br />safety and security. <br />-14- <br />
