It
is possible that these are not actually at the locations shown. 41e
feel that Cotter Corporation should locate wells accurately and monitor
any which could possibly be contaminated. All are for domestic u~.e.
1. #63331 NE',NE';, Sec. 25, T25, R71W.
410' deep, 3 gpm, water level - 238'
Owner: Howard Lacey, P. 0. Tennessee,
Lakewood
Response to Comment No. 1 - In addition to the fact that there are no
readily apparent sources of groundwater contamination, it should be
noted that the ore sorter and water treatment plant are situated on
alluvium which was deposited in the pre-Cambrian valley through which
Ralston Creek flows. Accordingly, the geohydrologic constraints to
groundwater flow at and down gradient from the mine site dictate that
fora well to exhibit the potential adverse effects resulting from ore
sorter operations, it must be located within the hydrologic reyime
defined by the alluvium-pre Cambrian system occurring along Ralston
Creek downstream from the mine site. Of the five wells cited by the
Division of Water Resources, the only wells located within this hydro-
logic regime are the wells in Section 25, T25, T71W, and all of these
wells are located upgradient from the ore sorter and water treatment
plant. Wells number 63331 and 22946 are located about one-half mile
northeast of the mine site and are about 880 feet above the mine site
in elevation. The bottom elevation of these wells gets no closer than
about 470 feet above the mine site. Well number 64684 is owned by
