Berm - The berm area has very nearly achieved its proper
height. Some additional material may be added, but it is
within about 10 feet of its final height.
The outside slope of the berm, however, is considerably
steeper than is called for in the plan when the berm is to
be finally completed. During this next year procedures will
be implemented to reduce the slope to a 2:1 as needed in the
final configuration.
Benches - Two upper level benches have been established
on the south side of the pit area. As these benches are no
longer needed they have been graded and will receive seed in
April, 1982. They were not seeded in April, 1981, because
the materials had just been reworked and were rather dry.
It was decided it would be better to delay seeding so it
could settle and accumulate some moisture reserve this next
winter.
Rule 2.41(4): No vegetation was planted during this last
year. When planting is done it may not be with the mixture
stated in the permit. The approved mixture is being studied
and it is possible a new mixture will be developed as occurred
on the Queen's Canyon Quarry. If so, a technical revision
will be submitted to change the mixture.
Rule 2.41(5): Because nothing was planted or had been
seeded in earlier years no fertilizers or soil amendments
Page 3 of 4
