stripped but not mined. Most of the extraction occurred on
the south side of the pit, but some material has also been
taken from the north and northwest side. Much of the waste
material has continued to be dumped on the berm to increase
its height as part of the visual screen for the operation.
In the permit application, Exhibit D - Mining Plan, the
mining cycle was described. It contains an Initial Step
followed by 4 cycle steps. As of the last permit year the
quarry is still functioning in the Initial Step, but, as
will be described in response to Rule 2.41(7), the operation
is nearing entry on Cycle Steps 1 and 2 where the processing
plant is moved from the center to the perimeter of the pit.
This will take place ahead of scheduled completion of the
Initial Step as indicated in the Mining Plan Timetable,
Exhibit D, in the permit application.
Rule 2.41(2): No acreage was fully reclaimed this last
year. None was scheduled to be reclaimed. A few areas are
in various stages of reclamation and for a description of
those please see the response to Rule 2.41(3).
Rule 2.41(3): As mentioned above, there are a few areas
under some stages of reclamation. Most of the operation is
under the influence of mining activities, but wherever
possible reclamation activity has been instituted. The
areas where this has been done include the berm and some
benches on the south side of the open pit.
