I `r~ ~ _, _', „c~~_r~ng <br />ANNIVERSARY DATE: MAY 27 <br />INTRODUCTION: The Snyder Quarry (permit #77-210) is a <br />combination surface and underground limestone quarry located <br />at the head of a canyon near Manitou Springs, Colorado. <br />Much of the material produced is for aggregate, but high <br />calcium limestone is produced in the underground operation. <br />The surface operation is an open pit that is slowly becoming <br />deeper but will become only a little wider than it is presently. <br />Although generally not readily visible from nearby urban <br />areas, aesthetic considerations were taken into account when <br />designed. A large berm of waste material has been constructed <br />at the entrance to the quarry and this will obscure much of <br />the quarry workings in the years to come. The entrance to <br />the underground workings are located within the open pit <br />areas. <br />The format of this annual report follows the format of <br />Rule 2.41. <br />Rule 2.41(1): The Snyder Quarry permit was for 27 acres. <br />All of the area has been affected in the last year except <br />for about 2 acres at the back of the quarry which has been <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />
