I `r~ ~ _, _', „c~~_r~ng
ANNIVERSARY DATE: MAY 27
INTRODUCTION: The Snyder Quarry (permit #77-210) is a
combination surface and underground limestone quarry located
at the head of a canyon near Manitou Springs, Colorado.
Much of the material produced is for aggregate, but high
calcium limestone is produced in the underground operation.
The surface operation is an open pit that is slowly becoming
deeper but will become only a little wider than it is presently.
Although generally not readily visible from nearby urban
areas, aesthetic considerations were taken into account when
designed. A large berm of waste material has been constructed
at the entrance to the quarry and this will obscure much of
the quarry workings in the years to come. The entrance to
the underground workings are located within the open pit
areas.
The format of this annual report follows the format of
Rule 2.41.
Rule 2.41(1): The Snyder Quarry permit was for 27 acres.
All of the area has been affected in the last year except
for about 2 acres at the back of the quarry which has been
Page 1 of 4
