Annual Hydrologic Report
Page Eight
The moisture added during mining
million gallons and the moisture
out to be 5.33 million gallons.
plant was 3.18 million gallons,
of domestic water being used in
calculates out to be 3.35
added during cleaning calculates
The metered mine water in the
resulting in 2.15 million gallons
the plant.
For dust control on roads, both surface and underground, water
was used as necessary. Magnesium Chloride was used on roads to
better control dust and to reduce the watering requirement.
Underground approximately 4800 gallons per day, 3 days per week
were used and on the surface approximately 12,000 gallons per
day, 4 days per week, 50~ of the year were used. The surface
roads are watered with irrigation water from the Highline Canal.
A summation of the estimated consumptive use of water is as
follows:
Total Gallons/ Gallons/
Source Gallons rhw ton clean ton
Domestic
Surface Facilities 1,397,000 2.8 4.9
• Preparation Plant
Mine 2,150,000 4.3 7.3
Mining 3,350,000 6.8 11.7
Preparation Plant 3,150,000 6.4 11.1
Underground Roads 750,000 1.5 2.6
Highline Canal
Surface Roads 1.250.000 2.5 4.4
TOTAL 12,047,000 24.3 42.1
Impacts
The total dissolved solids (TDSj for the mine discharges
calculates out to be 41.4 tons from outfall 001 and 449.0 tons
for outfall 004. These discharges represent 0.035 of the 1.42
million tons calculated to be carried in the River. Discharge of
TDS is expected to double when outfall 002 stabilizes. For the
1993 water year, we expect to see an estimated 800 tons of TDS
from outfall 002 while an initial flushing of minerals takes
place in the old works. Long term, the Cameo No. 1 Mine will be
sealed with no discharge and the Roadside Mine will continue to
discharge from 002.
There was no detectable effect of mining on Cottonwood and Rapid
Creeks. As projected in last year's AHR, the Roadside Mine
inflows in the area of these creeks increased again due to
. continued advance to the south and east. For the 1993 water
