Annual Hydrologic Report <br />. Page Seven <br />dewatering hole was drilled into the low corner of the panel, and <br />the stored water was being drained. Subsequent observations of <br />the dewatering hole indicated a flow of 4 - 5 gpm. Flow at <br />location 18 enters the 7th West sump where water is pumped into a <br />mine water supply system. This flow is manually regulated. <br />Location 26 is a dewatering pipe from 3rd West panel. it has <br />been overlooked in previous mine inflows studies. Flow relating <br />to new mining locations generally showed an increase in <br />conductivity like locations 5, 10 and 14. Locations where mining <br />has been completed and water is allowed to set also shows an <br />increase in conductivity such as at locations 9, 12 and 15. Many <br />of the other locations show a relatively stable conductivity. <br />The mass average conductivity and pH for the mine inflows study <br />was 921 umhos/cm and 8.6 respectively. Roadside inflows were <br />used in the mining system in the prep plant, dumped into <br />abandoned portions of the mine and discharged from outfall 001. <br />This outfall represented 8$ of the inflows and had an average <br />conductivity and pH of 1202 umhos/cm and 8.6 respectively. <br />Consumptive IIse <br />A monthly listing of domestic water usage is shown on Table <br />C92-1. Meter 1 supplies the buildings near the Roadside entrance <br />• gate. Meter 2 supplies the preparation plant and the Roadside <br />office and bathhouse. Meter 3 supplies the Cameo facilities. <br />The split between the surface facilities and the plant is not <br />measured, therefore, estimates are made. <br />Mine water is used underground for dust suppression in the mining <br />process and on roadways. Water usage underground is not <br />measured, but is being estimated. The mine water is also used <br />for process water in the preparation plant. Water in the plant <br />has a closed circuit but leaves the plant as added moisture in <br />the coal and the refuse. As shown on table C92-1 the mine water <br />usage in the plant was metered this year. <br />The water added to coal-during the mining process and the <br />cleaning process can be roughly calculated from moisture levels <br />at different stages of the process. The following information is <br />used to make the calculation: <br />- Measured equilibrium moisture 8.2$ <br />- Measured raw tons 495,907 with a measured <br />moisture of 11.0$ <br />- Measured clean tons, 285,954 with a measured <br />moisture of 12.8 <br />- Estimated refuse tons, 212,000 with an <br />estimated 19~ moisture <br />
