BOX 449
FLORENCE, COLORADO 81226
QUARTERLY IlVSPECTION REPORT
COAL PROCESSING WASTE BANKS
Date of Inspection: November 11, 1994
Waste Bank Identification: Primary Refuse Disposal Area
Waste Bank Location: Sec. 30, T20S, R69W, 6th P.M.
Fremont County, Colorado
Comments: The coal processing waste bank was visually inspected and found to be in general
compliance with the CMLRD approved Reconstruction Plan for the Coal Processing Waste Bank.
The topsoiled and planted areas of.the waste bank exhibit good plant growth. Base area expansion
for the advancing side (West) of the waste bank was in progress at the time of inspection. Top soil
from the expansion area has been excavated and placed in temporary stockpiles located along the
West side and on top of the waste bank. Overburden from the expansion area is being placed on
the turreclaimed portion of the waste bank.
Recommendations: Variation in the characteristics of the coarse and fine refuse materials are to be
expected, depending on changes in the mine geology and mining practices. The fine material
should be sampled and tested to identify an acceptable range of plasticity characteristics. When
high clay content material is encountered in the mining operations, it should be sampled and
compared with this range, with selective placement of high plasticity materials in the pile to avoid
adverse stability impacts. .., ~~
Inspected by: David J.
