1 <br />5. Gently compact backfill with excavation machinery (i.e., backhce bucket) as <br />directed by the RESIDENT PROJECT REPRESENTATIVE in order to seat <br />' rocks. <br />F. Marking <br />1 1. Anew, Crfoot long, 3-inch I.D. (inside diameter), galvanized steel pipe shall be <br />installed in front of each backfilled feature. The lower 2 feet of pipe shall be set <br />' in concrete a minimum of 1-foot diameter and the upper 1-foot minimum, 2-foot <br />maximum, of the pipe shall extend above grade. Alternatively, a minimum 1-foot <br />diameter, 3/8-inch thick galvanized steel plate may be welded perpendicular to <br />' the bottom end of the pipe in lieu of the concrete anchor. A brass cap shall be <br />grouted into the upper end of the pipe by the Subcontractor using anon-shrink <br />grout or adhesive, such a Moly Parabond, Pour Rack, or Kwik Crete. The <br />' Subcontractor may alternatively drill and grout a brass cap in undisturbed, <br />competent rock immediately adjacent to each backfilled feature. The brass caps <br />will be supplied by the RESIDENT PROJECT REPRESENTATIVE. <br />3.5 CAST-IN-PLACE CONCRETE BULKHEAD SEAL CLOSURE <br />' A. Description <br />1. This work includes construction of cast-in-place concrete bulkhead seal in an adit. <br />This work includes clearing and grubbing, excavation of bulkhead footings, <br />furnishing and installing of forms, reinforcing steel, and concrete, and backfilling <br />' of closed adit. <br />B. Clearing and Grubbing <br />' 1. The work site shall be cleared and grubbed of vegetation, debris, loose rocks, and <br />other items which interfere with construction, except those items shown on the <br />' plans or designated by the RESIDENT PROJECT REPRESENTATIVE. All <br />trash and debris shall be disposed of at acounty-approved disposal site, as <br />approved by the RESIDENT PROJECT REPRESENTATIVE. <br />t C. Excavation <br />1. Mine openings to be closed with avast-in-place concrete bulkhead must be <br />excavated and seated in competent bedrock. The perimeter of the mine shaft <br />must be excavated to a minimum ledge width of 2 feet on competent bedrock. <br />' 2. Subcontractor is responsible for site inspections, testing, or exploration necessary <br />to ensure that the bid adequately reflects excavation conditions including any hand <br />trimming and leveling required. <br />1 <br />' Crl l <br />
