REVEGETATED: As was reported last year, about 3 acres
has been placed in a revegetation status. This land is west
of Academy and is the area labeled as being "reseeded", as
shown on the 1987-1988 annual report map. No other land has
actually been placed in final revegetation because no other
land is available for final revegetation treatment.
RULE 2.41(4): THE SPECIES OF VEGETATION PLANTED, THE
LOCATIONS AND APPROXIMATE DATES OF PLANTING.
No planting was done last year. Please refer to the
1986-1987 annual report for a description of what was
planted on the area which was reseeded.
RULE 2.41 5 THE TYPE AND APPROXIMATE QUANTITY OF
FERTILIZERS, ORGANIC MATERIAL, OR SOIL CONDITIONERS USED AND
LOCATION OF USE.
No fertilizers or soil amendments were applied as no
seeding occurred. No additional fertilizers or soil
amendments were added to areas which were previously seeded.
These areas are doing well without the benefit of such
materials.
RULE 2.41(6): AN APPRAISAL OF THE SUCCESS OF RECLAMATION
EFFORTS, AND IN THE EVENT OF FAILURE OF ANY EFFORTS, A SHORT
NARRATIVE ON THE SUSPECTED OR DETERMINED CAUSE OF SUCH
FAILURE.
Please refer to previous annual reports for a
discussion of the successes with the limited amount of
revegetation which has been implemented at [his operation.
With respect to the success of the physical land
alterations produced by the removal of the sand dike, this
process is showing excellent results. The improvement on
the Sand Pit to the north is tremendous. Improvements on
this site, although less significant because this site was
already open, are also important. The amount of land where
possible building could occur in the future has been more
fully integrated with the surrounding land structure. It
appears that within the next decade these two sites have the
potential of becoming excellent locations for industrial
development. In that respect, the reclamation work
accomplished through the mining process is showing excellent
success.
FILE 73-7 ANNUAL REPORT - 1989/1990 PAGE 3 OF 4
