r
RULE 2.41 7 ESTIMATES OF THE LOCATION AND NUMBER OF ACRES
TO BE AFFECTED IN THE COMING YEAR.
It is not known what will happen in this next year,
because the aggregate market appears to be showing signs of
continued instability. A probable scenario would be that
mining will continue primarily from the sand dike west of
Academy with very limited mining east of Academy. The
volume of material to be removed is not expected to increase
over last year. There are some very major projects on the
horizon for the Colorado Springs area and these could change
these predictions rather significantly, but there is little
to indicate any degree of assurance that any of these major
projects will actually begin construction this next year.
Furthermore, the loss of major projects has not only
affected the aggregate market but virtually all aspects of
industry and government in Colorado Springs. In fact, the
city is apparently going to de-annex land that was
previously annexed. When a city is shrinking in size it is
hard for a growth based industry like aggregate production
to grow.
ANNUAL REPORT MAP: No annual report map is submitted this
year because the changes which occurred in the operation and
the affected lands were so slight the maps would appear to
6e essentially identical to previous maps. The only area
which changed is the sand dike on the north edge of that
portion of the operation on the west side of Academy
Boulevard. It was not considered useful to prepare all new
annual report maps to show just this small change.
Therefore, for the locations of the various activities
described in this report, please refer to the annual report
maps in the 1987-1988 annual report.
FILE 73-7 ANNUAL REPORT - 1989/1990 PAGE 4 OF 4
