1.2 PER!'OR~tifANCE STi1 NDARD
'~
The system has been designed to recover mobile free-phase product in the vicinity of four
extraction wells positioned at the source location and at the downgradicnt side of the free
product plume. Residual and adsorbed phase product are not addressed by the system.
Dissolved phase product has been determine front a previous site investigation to be
below state MCLs, and therefore need not be rccovcred by the system.
1.3 SYSTE,ti/DESCRIPTION
"I'he design incorporates dual-phase extraction system located at the AST system in the
vicinity of the source of the spill. Drawing 1 depict, the layout of the system.
'Total Iuids and soil vapor will be rccovcred from the subsurface through a 3/4-inch
diameter drop tube positional approxin, atcly one-foot below the water table. The drop
tube will be inswllal in a lwo-inch diameter cxlraction well, screened across water table.
'fhc well head bcuvecn the drop tube and the well casing will Uc scaled with a rubber
boot, which would allow for an adjustment in the depth of the drop tuba The surface end
of the drop tube will be lifted with a port Cor monitoring the pressure at the wellhead, and
coupled with PVC piping extending to the vacuum manifold.
The piping from cacti of the DPG wellheads is valved, and connected to a vacuum
manifold. 'fhc vacuum pipe from the manifold is run through aknock-out tank to
separate recovered fluids, which are discharged to an oil/water separator via an
evacuation pump. Vacuum is provided to the system by a rotary positive blower or
vacuum pump.
Treated ground water is discharged from the separator to a 20,000-gallon water holding
tank located within the confines of the AST berm. Separated product is gravity-drained
,._
from the separator into 55-gallon drums for off-site disposal or recycle.
i
ERtvt-Rocky Mountain, Inc. 2 Printed on Recycled Paper
P:\ I OOO1S N' PC196 I 0 19.
