• completed by December 31, 1987 4i11 be reclaimed by October
30, 1988. Reclamation of any later drilling operations will
be accomplished no later than November 30, 1989.
,2. Access
Proposed access routes to drill sites subject to this request
are delineated Erom a point of public access on Exhibit lA,
1987 Drill Site Location Map. The drill sites can be reached
via existing roads and trails, shown on the map as heavy
dashed lines, and then driving cross-country to the proposed
sites. Some brush clearing will be necessary to allow access
to drill site number CC-54A. These areas are designated on
Exhibit lA, 1987 Drill Site Location Map, with the symbol "R'
for roadwork and "B' for brush clearing areas. Where road-
work is required, a dozer will probably be used to windrow
topsoil towards the upper side of the roadway where it will
be stored for retrieval during final reclamation. Dozing
operations will be held to minimal amount required to provide
access for the drill rig and associated equipment. Where
brush clearing is necessary, a dozer will blade small trees
and brush to the side of the trail and leave the topsoil
intact. Additional access route roadwork is not foreseen,
but if it becomes necessary, it will be minimal and conducted
consistent with the above described methods.
• No major ephemeral drainages or intermittent streams will be
crossed by access routes to be used during this drilling
project. All activities will be conducted during periods of
good, dry ground conditions to prevent unnecessary rutting
and disturbance of access routes and drill sites.
3. Site Preparation
The drill sites subject to this request shown on Exhibit lA,
1987 Drill Site Location Map, have been located, to the
extent practicable, in areas of flat terrain to minimize or
eliminate tRe need for drill pad leveling. Due to topo-
graphic conditions, site No. CC-54A should be the only drill
site requiring drill pad preparation. Where leveling is
necessary, a pad of approximately 40 feet wide and 100 feet
long (approximately 0.1 acres) will be disturbed. Maximum
cuts will be six feet or less. Pad preparation will be done
with a dozer by first removing topsoil and stockpiling the
material in windrows along the upper and lower sides of the
pad for eventual replacement and revegetation. Final level-
ing will be done with the dozer within the stripped area. At
drill sites not requiring pad leveling, the only earthwork
required is the excavation of mud pits.
• All drill sites will be equipped with two mud pits each for
the containment of drilling fluids and cuttings. Each pit
will be a maximum of 20 feet long, 15 feet wide and 6 feet
deep (67 cubic yards) resulting in a disturbance of approx-
