' Exhibit D~~
Reclamation Plan
1
' The present use of the site is mining. After remining as described above,
the site will be reclaimed to Wildlife Habitat.
' Growth Medium
' There is no overburden or growth medium to salvage and stockpile
during mining and replace when the mining is completed. Without some growth
medium, the tailing will not revegetate satisfactorily. The key to successfully
' revegetating this site will be the back-hauling (importation) of a growth medium
from off-site projects.
After mining, the area will be scarified, three inches of growth medium
will be distributed, and the site will be revegetated to grasses and a nitrogen
fixing legume.
Three inches of growth medium will provide a satisfactory stand of
vegetation. The grass cover desired for such a site is a stabilizing growth of
' grasses conducive to natural invasion of other species from the surrounding
area through time. Vegetation resembling a golf course turf is not desired.
' Grading
' There is no regrading to be done at the end of mining. As described in
the Mining Plan, the dredge tailing will be removed to within approximately two
' feet of the water table. That activity will convert what is an extremely unnatural
topographic configuration (placer dredge piles) into an essentially level
topography which, within a few years following revegetation, will be similar to a
' valley-bottom high-mountain meadow.
Timing
It is anticipated that reclamation/revegetation will be initiated on 3 to 4
' acres after mining is completed on 5 or 6 acres. (An area to accommodate
staging, stockpiles, and caretakers quarters will be required throughout the life
of the operation.)
~1
' 9
