is $125 per hour with a breakdown of $ 25 per hour for operator cost, $ 50 per hour for
ownership cost and $ 50 per hour for operating and overhaul cost.
The amount of topsoil required to be replaced on the 6 acres of regraded overburden
and 0.45 acres of haulroad is calculated based on the soil depths from the exploration
holes in these areas to be 1.2 feet thick. This equates to a volume of 13,107 LCY which
needs to be respread. The unadjusted production rate of these scrapers, assuming a
haul distance of 600 feet and an average slope of 5 percent is calculated to equal 235
LCY per hour, which equals an adjusted production rate of 176 LCY per hour.
Based on these calculations it can be calculated that it will take 74.47 hours to reapply
the topsoil onto this site. This translates into a total job cost for topsoiling to $ 9,309.
E. Revegetation Costs. The reseeding costs for the 6.77 acres will consist of seed costs
of $ 35 per acre for the 5.15 acres corresponding to the upland areas and $ 60 per acre
for the 1.62 acres corresponding to the wetland areas. This translates into a cost of $
180 for seed on the upland areas and $ 97 per acre for the wetland areas, for a total
seed cost of $ 277. The cost for obtaining and planting 11 Willow and Cottonwood
transplants in the wetland areas is $ 100.
Seedbed preparation in the form of chisel plowing will be $ 110 per acre and total $ 746
for the entire mine site. Actual seeding costs will be $ 65 per acre and total $ 440 for
the entire site. A 16-7-12 fertilizer will be applied at a rate of 100 pounds per acre at a
rate of $ 1.20 per pound with a total cost of $ 812 of the entire site. Clean straw or
native hay mulch applied will be applied at a rate of one ton per acre at a cost of $ 200
per acre for a total cost of $ 1,354. Given the excellent quality of topsoil and high rate
of revegetation success in this area it is extremely unlikely that any of the revegetation
areas will need to be reseeded to compensate for seedling failure. The total
revegetation cost for this site is $ 3,729.
The total direct reclamation costs for this project are calculated to be $ 47,143.
Indirect Reclamation Costs. The following indirect reclamation costs are calculated as
required by the DMG bond calculations.
Contractor's Overhead and Profit.
Public Liability Insurance
Contractor's Performance Bond
Contractor's Profit
1.55 % of direct $ 730
0.9375 % of direct $ 442
10.00% of direct cost 4 716
Subtotal $ 5,888
Total Construction Contract Amount
DMG Project Administration Expenses
$ 53,031
28
