cost per hour. The total equipment unit cost per hour is $ 126.72.
The volume of material which needs to be regarded to backfill the final six acres of
reclamation based on the depth of overburden from three exploration test holes in this
area averages 10.8 feet. This equates to a total material volume of 104,544 LCY. The
average push distance is 300 feet and the estimated production rate is 543 LCY per
hour; the average slope gradient is 5.00 percent. The average altitude is 6,600'. The
estimated material weight is 2,550#/LCY. The adjusted production rate, discounting
potential delays is estimated at 406.09 LCY/hour. The total estimated time for backfilling
and regrading is 257.44 hours. Using a unit cost of $ 0.310/LCY the estimate cost of
backfilling and regrading is $ 32,623.
B. Reoradino Costs of Highwall Reduction. Under the assumptions used in this
evaluation, there will not be any highwall reduction work necessary since the highwalls
on the sides of the area considered for final reclamation will of had to be reclaimed to
stay in compliance with the approved Routt County SUP. The highwall areas on the
south, west and north of the final mine area will have been backfilled concurrent with
the mining of the final mine block since the overburden in the final mining blocks will of
had to be excavated and backfilled in these areas to allow mining in the final mining
area.
C. Haulroad Removal. A section of the mine haulroad running from the top of the hill to
the mine pit area across the hillside and crossing the two drainage channels will need
to be removed at the time of final reclamation. This area corresponds to a distance of
960 feet or an area of 0.45 acres will need to be reclaimed. The equipment to be used
in reclaiming the haulroad will be a DSN dozer and a 235 backhoe. The ownership and
operating costs for the dozer are presented above. The cost breakdown for the backhoe
is an ownership cost of $ 60 per hour, an operating and overhaul cost of $ 40 per hour
and an operator cost of $ 25 per hour; with a total equipment cost of $ 125 per hour.
The volume of material to be removed from the fill slopes and placed in the cut slope
areas is calculated to be 4,000 LCY. The average production rate for a backhoe under
these conditions will be approximately 333 LCY per hour and for a dozer assuming a
40-foot push on a 20 percent slope will be approximately 700 LCY per hour. Based
upon the anticipated correction factors it can be assumed that the adjusted unit
production rate of 75% will equal 250 LCY per hour for the tracked hoe and 525 LCY
per hour for the dozer. Assuming that half of the material will be moved by the backhoe
and half will be moved by the dozer it can be calculated that 8.0 hours of backhoe time
and 3.8 hours of dozer time will be required to regrade the mine haulroad. This
translates into a job cost of $ 1,000 for the backhoe and $ 481.54 for the dozer cost with
a total cost of $ 1,482. The cost to remove the sediment pond at the base of the slope
with the haulroad is included in this cost.
D. Topsoil Aaolication. The equipment to be used to respread the stockpiled topsoil will
be a Cat 627 twin engine scraper. The total equipment cost of this piece of equipment
27
