Tellier. The total area to be affected
affected by the proposed mine access
mine excavation. Phase I Mine Block,
pipe line totals 7.53 acres and Phase I
pipe line totals 16.91 acres.

by mining is 24.89 of which 0.45 acres will be
road and 24.44 acres which will be affected by
which is located to the north of the natural gas
I Mine Block, which is located to the south of the
Several manmade structures occur within 200 feet of the area to be affected by mining.
There is a property boundary fence which borders the northern, western and southern
sides of the property adjacent to the mine pit area. Mining will not impact these fences.
There is an existing cross fence in the northern most pit area which will be removed as
a result of the proposed mining operations. Also since the southern boundary fence
does not coincide with the actual property boundary, this fence will be removed and
replaced following mining. Examination of this mapping shows that the eastern
boundary fence is actually located between upwards of 10 to 12 feet inside the property
boundary and the Tellier's are in the process of moving this fence line to correspond to
the actual property boundary. The location of these fence lines is shown on Map 3,
Tellier Gravel Pit -Mine Plan Map."
There are existing roads in the form of a residential drive way and agricultural road
which are also shown on this map. The location of the Telliers home and two sheds is
also shown on this map. There is also a Hay Shed located in the southeastern portion
of the site. This map also shows the location of the Tellier Spring as well. There is an
existing buried telephone fiber optic cable which has been placed along the east side
of Routt County Road # 33A. Parallel to this is a buried natural gas transmission line.
Immediately to the east of the existing property boundary fence is an overhead
electrical transmission line. Routt County Road Number 33A is located approximately
600 feet to the northeast of the proposed mine pit and at the origin of the existing ranch
access road. The location of each of these structures is shown on Map 2, Tellier Gravel
Pit - Premining Conditions Map. Approximately 900 feet to the north of the proposed
mine pit lies the Yampa River.
Evaluation of fifteen exploration test pits in the vicinity of the proposed gravel pit area
revealed that groundwater was encountered in eleven of these test holes where gravels
were found. The depth of water was found to be between 12 and 33 feet below the
surface of the ground. The average depth of groundwater was found to be 20.55 feet.
As a general rule, the depth of the groundwater was found to be shallowest near the
unnamed drainage which runs adjacent to the proposed mine pit area and toward the
north end of the property.
The mapping of the jurisdictional wetlands along the hillside to the east reveals
numerous spring and ground water discharge sites along this hill. However, this water
discharge is hydrologically upslope of the proposed gravel pit and separated by an
eroded drainage there is no possibility that there is any hydrological connection
between the ground water discharge area and the proposed gravel pit disturbance area.
This EXHIBIT was prepared by
y~j~
Kent A.
