' Phase XIV: Remove the overburden from Area 13 and place it in Area 12.
This should fill Area 12 to the final grade. However, if there is a sur-
plus of overburden, it can be placed back into Area 13. ' Mine all the
' gravel from Area 13, de-watering as necessary. Reseed Area 12.
Phase XV: Remove the overburden from Area 14 and place it in Area 13•
' Remove all gravel from Area 14, de-watering as necessary. Reseed Area 13.
Phase XVI : Remove the overburden from Area 15 and place it in Area 14.
It will probably not be possible to remove all of the gravel from Area 15
' due to a shortage of backfill . Only enough gravel will be removed to
allow grading to find contour. If additional overburden is needed to
' complete the backfilling of Area 15, overburden may be obtained by enlarg-
ing the pond slightly. Reseed Areas 14 and 15•
The mining operation at the site is complete. All portions of the
site have been reclaimed to a farmable condition with the exception of
the pond remaining in Areas 4, 5, 7, and 8.
' The Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board has defined different degrees of
disturbance in a mining and relcmation operation. The definition of those
1 three types of disturbance are as follows:
' Major Disturbance: That area of a mining operation that include exca-
vations, overburden spoils, and topsoil stockpiles.
' Moderate Disturbance: That area of a mining operations which is a re-
suit of backfilling of an open cut, stabilization of waste dumps, leveling
of overburden soils, the smooth grading and the distribution of topsoil or
' other suitable approved plant growth medium. Also included within the
affected area are on-site privateways, roads, railroads, evaporation or
' settling ponds, leaching dumps, work, parking, storage or discharge areas
1
-la-
