EXHIBIT C
MINING PLAN
PROPOSED SCHOOLFIELD PIT
It is proposed to begin the excavation from this gravel pit during the
summer of 1993, and end approximately 20 years later.
Topsoil would be placed into a long flat-topped berm to the North
of the mined area. This material, if left for more than one growing season,
would be seeded with the seeding mixture specified in the reclamation plan
in Exhibit D. Topsoil in this area is not more than 6-12 inches deep, and
all would be stripped and placed into the berm before mining of gravel would
begin.
Overburden is of the amount to be inconsequential. The deposit of the
material to be mined is estimated at 25 feet and that is the maximum proposed
mining depth.
The major components of the mining operation will consist of a 20 foot
access road along the east line of the NEB of Section 2, and storage piles
of gravel immediately to the North of the active mining swath.
At any time the size of the significantly disturbed areas would be
approximately 580 feet by 425 feet with about half being under active
reclamation activities.
Water to be used in the project for dust control will be obtained
from a commercial well and will be transported in by a water truck.
According to existing water wells in the surrounding area, it is
approximately 300 feet to water. As water will not be used other than for
dust control, there should be no problem with sediment containment or
run-off and as such no infringement or injury to any existing water rights.
