Banks and Gesso, LLC
inside the mine limit shall be stockpiled until the soil/claystone liner is to be installed.
Aggregate reserves shall be screened and stockpiled for export at the ancillary facilities
site located to the south of East Mine and west of the haul road. As aggregate reserves
are depleted within the limits of the perimeter trench, claystone and siltstone shall be
excavated to an elevation of 4753' with a key slot for the soil liner at a final elevation of
4750'. As claystone is excavated, the material shall be blended with overburden
material at a 1:1 ratio and placed in one foot lifts with a moisture content ranging from
1 % dry - 3% wet of optimum and compacted at a minimum of 95% of the max dry unit
weight. The proctors shall be completed per ASTM D 698 at a rate of 1 test per 5,000
yd3 of placed fill. The total volume of overburden removed and stockpiled during this
phase is approximately 59,930 yd3. The estimated volume of soil liner material to be
placed within East Mine is 153,500 yd3. The completion of the perimeter trench
excavation and the soil liner installation shall seal the reservoir and with the dewatering
of the reserves within the limits of the East Mine perimeter trench, the mine operations
shall be a dry Mine operation. Once a dry mine condition is achieved, there is no need
for augmentation for groundwater losses.
Phase II(b) -Completion of East Mine Excavation
Phase II(b) of the mining operation is to remove the remaining aggregate reserves from
East Mine. It is expected that this Phase will take approximately 12 to 24 months to
complete, depending on market conditions.
Phase III -West Mine Excavation and Clav Liner Installation
Phase III of the mine operation begins with the excavation of a perimeter trench in the
West Mine. Overburden will be stockpiled either north of or within East Mine where the
excavation of aggregate reserves has been completed and the claystone has been
excavated to a final elevation of 4758'. Material will be transported via haul trucks
between the West Mine, East Mine and Processing Area.
Once groundwater has been exposed, augmentation for groundwater losses shall once
again commence. The perimeter trench shall be excavated in the same manner as was
completed in the East Mine mining phase II; however the perimeter trench of the West
Mine shall serve mainly as a dewatering trench where groundwater can be pumped to
the B.H. Eaton ditch and eventually released to the Poudre River. The mining of the
Raindance Sand and Gravel Mine March 16, 2004
Hilltop Aquatic Investments, LLC q 04001
