7.4 HYDRDLOGiC BALANCE (4.05)
• 7.4.1 Geilerdl TMrniirwmonts
The mining to be carried out at the Trinidad Basin has
been planned in such a manner as to minimize negative impacts on
the prevailing hydrologic balance. An important aspect in minimizing
impacts is that significant amounts of ground water will not be
intercepted during the course of mining.
The surface m;n;ng activities have been designed to minimize
impacts to the prevailing hydrologic balance by implementing the
following practices: limiting the extent of surface disturbance,
recla;m;nq disturbed areas in a contemporaneous fashion, diverting
runoff around disturbed areas, and returning the land to ADC.
Additionally, the use of a hydrrmulch should help to decrease the
• amount of runoff and erosion from the reclaimed surfaces.
7.4.2 Water Quality Standards and Effluent Limitations
All disturbed drainage will pass through a sediment pond
except for those small areas that will be serviced by erosion
netting (Geofab Silt Fencing). However, all discharges will be
done >n accordance with the NPDES Permit issued to TBM. All the
coi~onents of the ~ar7;,,,ant control system will be maintained by
TBM until bond is released for the area.
Any dischareJe will also meet the effluent limitations es-
tablished in Fdile 4.05(7). All discharges fmn sediment ponds will
be sampled for the parameters listed in this rule and the results
. forwarded to the Division.
VII-5
