DMG believes these measures will address your concerns about protection of your irrigation
ditches and live spring.
DMG is considering your letter of concern as an objection to the application. As a result of the
filing of an objection to this application, DMG's rules and regulations require that we initiate a
process of two public conferences and a Formal Public Hearing (see enclosure). Due to your
objection submittal, you now have party status to the permitting process for the proposed Angie
Pit . Please carefully read the enclosed memorandum regarding the benefits and detriments of
having party status. If, after reading the memorandum, you wish to withdraw from party status,
please fill out the enclosed Party Status Request Form appropriately, sign it and return it to DMG
as soon as possible. If you wish to retain party status, you do not have to return the form.
However, DMG requests that you notify us of your decision to maintain party status, by June 1,
2000. You will be notified in the near future of the dates and places for the conferences and
public hearing. These meetings will take place unless all objections to the permit are withdrawn,
or all objectors withdraw from party status.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Minerals and Geology,
Durango Field Office, 701 Camino Del Rio, Room 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, telephone no.
970-247-5062.
Since~rel~y, ~~
~~~~' V
Steve S.
