~f ETH ODS
' This cultural resource inventory involved a number of tasks. These tasks are
req;iired of a PSAP permit holder and are described below.
1
i File searches of the Office o[ the State Archaeologist and the Craig District
Office of the Bureau of Land 1lanagement (BLC:I) were conducted on llav 1~, 1981 The
.' records checked no previous surveys or recorded sites within the proposed project area.
The survey •.vas conducted at a 100% level of coverage using parallel, zigzag
! transects spaced 15 meters apart. Areas likely to reveal artifacts (i.e., clearings and flat
areas) v: ere examined with closer spaced transects and given particularly close
attention. However, vegetation density was extremely high in most places, averaging a
visibility level of approximately 50So. The presence of five artifacts or more, or a
surt""ace feature tvas considered a site. .4 cultural resource of fewer than five artifa^_ts
was considered an isolated artifact.
Cultural resources encountered were documented with the use of Irv_nt~°•.-
• Record forms and component forms obtained from the Colorado Preservation Office.
Further documentation was achieved through the use of USGS quadrangles for cositi•:e
locations, field drawn maps for specifics within each location, and photographs.
1
~;
';
:_,•
1
:I
2
