Revised April 5, 1985
• Haulroad
Twentymile Coal Company proposed to utilize the recently upgraded
haulroad north of County Road #179 on property owned or controlled by
Getty Minerals Marketing, Inc. Design Specifications for the haulroad
are presented on Map 14, Haulroad Profile and Cross-Sections.
In order to minimize erosion, siltation, air and water pollution and
damage to public or private property, the haulroad was upgraded and
will be maintained in accordance with the applicable performance
standard requirements of Rules 4.03.1(1) - 4.03.1(7). The following
description of the haul road demonstrates the use of the best
technology currently available to avoid damage to fish, wildlife and
related environmental values. Drainages and stream channels affected
by the road have been maintained by the use of culverts and ditches
designed and placed in accordance with Rule 4.03.1(4). Horizontal and
vertical alignment, together with sedimentation ponds and other
• control mechanisms, will achieve the suspended solids requirements of
Rule 4.05.2.
Road Location
The existing haulroad was constructed on the most stable available
slopes, in order to minimize erosion, downstream sedimentation and
flooding. No stream channel diversions or fords are planned in
connection with the Fish Creek Tipple Operation.
Road Design and Construction
The design of the haulroad was supervised and certified by a qualified
registered professional engineer. In accordance with Rule 4.03.1,
haulroad design was based upon the volume of traffic and vehicle
weight and speed. From studying the equipment specifications and
consulting the Bureau of Mines Information Circular IC 8758, "Design
of Surface Mine Haulage Roads - A Manual", the road design parameters
were determined as follows:

2.05-8
