• Maximum Operating Speed 40 mph
Maximum Sustained Grade 5 percent
Maximum Grade at County Road Intersections 4 percent
Minimum Radius Horizontal Curve 500 feet
Roadway Width 30 feet
Stopping Distance (Crest of Vertical Curve) 325 feet
Vehicle speed on the haulroad will not exceed 35 mph. However, the
horizontal alignment has been determined based on a 40 mph design
speed for safety reasons. Horizontal and vertical alignment have been
carefully coordinated so that no horizontal curve beg4ns or ends at
the crest or sag of a vertical curve and in such a manner as to
control erosion, simplify drainage design, maximize safety and
environmental protection, and follow the existing natural topography.
The grade and pitch requirements specified under Rule 4.03.1(3) have
not been exceeded in road design, as shown on Map 14, Haulroad Profile
• and Cross-Sections. The schematic diagram also shows that road cuts
and embankments will not surpass the standards stipulated in Rule
4.03.1(3).
Road embankments have not been placed on steep slopes and do not
contain large consolidated overburden fragments. The materials used
to construct the haulroad are devoid of acid or toxic forming
substances. No fill materials were placed on vegetation or topsoil
during embankment construction.
Cut and fill slopes have been mechanically stabilized by "cat-
tracking." All embankment slopes lacking a protective vegetative
cover will be broadcast seeded during the first appropriate planting
period.

• . ~~
_-- ~ 2.05-9
