RECLAMATION PLAN • . EXHIBIT E (CONY)
continue to be used even when mining ends. This area is not
included in the bond because it would not have to be reclaimed if
the Division had to close the mine.
REVEGETATION PROGRAM
The revegetation program to be implemented by Siloam Stone
is detailed below. It incorporates information found in Soils and
Vegetation -EXHIBIT UJ section of this application. The background
information available now will be used to determine future
revegetation success.
The topsoiling plan presented above and this revegetation
program was designed after careful review of the existing soil
conditions and present vegetation, both on the site and in the
NRCS report where the background information was found. Per rule
3 - "Revegetation will be carried out in such a way so as to establish
a diverse, effective and long-lasting vegetative cover that is capable
of self-regeneration without continued dependence on irrigation, soil
amendments or fertilizers."
The plan is designed to create a vegetative cover that is at
least equal in extent to the cover of the natural vegetation
before mining. The use of species native to the area are
included. The intended use of the reclaimed land is a rangeland,
and any slopes created will be commensurate with this final land
use.
Seed will be drilled wherever possible, when drilling is not
possible, the seed will be broadcast. The revegetation plan
provides for the greatest probability of success in plant estab-
lishment and vegetative development by considering environmental
factors such as seasonal patterns of precipitation, temperatures
and wind. Other considerations, such as soil texture, fertility,
slope stability and the direction in which slopes face, have been
considered. A weed control plan is included in this report.
The existing road will remain on the site to provide access
for planting crews and for the supervision and inspection of the
reclamation plan. This road will provide the owner's with access
to the area when reclamation is complete. Final grading on the
road will be done before the pit is closed.
19
