SOIL MAP
The Soil Irnentory Map, Map 7 in the ^ine permit application, has been
revised to show the soil mapping units and the sa~ple loaationa within the
mapping units for the B Portal area in more detail. The map scale ie ]
inch = S00 feet.
b. SOIL MAPPING UNIT OESCRIPTIOMS
A narrative description of each of the mapping units in the B Portal area
is provided in Illustration A. The description includes slope, location,
vegetation, pM range, depth and other diagnostic features useful in
determining the suitability of the soils for reclamation. Each mapping
unit ie characterized in terms of its suitability for reclamation
purposes.
• c. SOIL PRC*'ILE CIERGRIPTION9
Soil profile descriptions typical of the soils within the B Portal area
are in Illustration B. Profile desoriptions are provided to characterize
each soil aeries phase or series variant comprising the isappirg units.
The looation of the described profiles fpit locatiornci are shown on the
Soil Inventory Map (Map 7).
d. ANAI YTIG F A TS
Chemical and physical analyses for the soils series phases or variants
occurring in the B Portal area are in Illustration C. Representative
sanQles of soil series or aeries variants were selected for laboratory
analysis in an effort to determine their witability for use in
reolamation as denoted by FDEQ Guideline No. 1, Tab 1e I-3 (E. J.M. b
J.K.N., Maroh 1990, revised). Applicable results from previous soil
studies are iraluded in Illustration C. Samples which correspond to the

II.I- 2
